Aloft, is our second studio album inspired by the studies of Harvard
psychiatrist Dr. John Mack on alien abductions, reflecting Mack’s notion: while he couldn’t confirm the
physical reality of abductions, the trauma and experiences were real.
In this album we have blended several genres to enhace the storytelling, together with a great dose of psychedelia.
Flamenco is one of the pillars of the album, not only through the melodies and harmonic
scales, but also through the rhythmic structures of
each song. Each piece is inspired by a flamenco rhythm, such as tangos,
bulerías or verdiales, which allowed us to create dynamics that respect the cycles of the
compás while reinterpreting them in a heavier, more contemporary context.
Classical music complements the structures, contributing to the narrative approach in the
development of each track. Inspired by techniques such as counterpoint, unexpected
modulations and orchestral dynamics, we have constructed passages to expand the
emotional range of the album.
Progressive metal, on the other hand, allowed us to extent these structures by
incorporating complex time signatures, shifts in meter and transitions. By using looping
and layering, we integrated also polyphony, exploring both dissonance and open
harmonies.
Stoner doom provides the visceral foundation that unifies the other influences. With heavy
riffs, downtuned guitars and a dense, saturated sound, its repetition and slow-building
dynamics emphasize the emotional intensity of the songs, serving as a contrast to the
more melodic and ornamented moments.
The result is a fusion of tradition and modernity, reflecting
everything we have learned and enjoyed throughout this creative process. Each song is a
journey, an exploration between the visceral and the mental, which we hope resonates
with you as much as it does with us
